The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority announced that trains on the Orange Line between Assembly Station and North Station can now operate at speeds of up to 55 miles per hour. The increase follows recent upgrades to the tracks on that segment, allowing higher operating speeds after the infrastructure work was completed.

The speed boost applies specifically to the stretch from Assembly Station to North Station and reflects the MBTA’s ongoing efforts to improve service through track improvements.
