The Chicago Public Schools Office of Inspector General defended its decision to close an investigation into misconduct allegations involving Hilario Domínguez, a candidate for the Board of Education presidency.

The office said the probe, which had been reopened, was subsequently terminated after review.

The decision arrives as the CPS board election approaches, and the internal watchdog has faced criticism for its handling of the case.
