Mayor Brandon Johnson signed an executive order on Friday that creates a Senior Bill of Rights for Chicago residents aged 60 and older. The signing ceremony on the South Side was attended by roughly one hundred seniors.

The new bill of rights sets out guarantees for safe housing, access to healthcare and the provision of city services, aiming to prevent seniors from being overlooked in city policies.

Chicago is home to more than half a million adults in this age group, prompting the city to formalize these protections.
