In October 2026, Chicago police, working with the Ruby Whiskers animal rescue, removed 76 dogs from a severely unsanitary residence on the 800 block of McCarthy Road in Lemont, Illinois. The house had been condemned because of hazardous, filthy conditions.
Inspectors reported that walls and floors were coated in dirt, debris and grime, creating a dangerous environment for the animals.
