Yido, a Chicago brewery, began producing makgeolli—Korea's oldest alcoholic drink—at its Near West Side facility on Oct. 19, 2026. Founder Peter Quinn Woo Chung said Chicago’s strong food‑and‑drink culture makes it an ideal market for the craft beverage.
Makgeolli is an unfiltered, naturally fermented rice wine from Korea, recognized for its creamy, tart and sweet flavor profile.
