Harris County began a new program on Oct. 2, 2026, located outside downtown Houston, that connects survivors of domestic violence with free legal services to help them secure protective orders.
The initiative, run by the Protective Order Extended Team, is intended to increase access to protective orders and broaden the county’s domestic‑violence resources beyond the city center.
