The Houston Zoo announced on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026, that its three elephants—Shanti, Joy and Kirby—will be transferred to another accredited zoo, where they will stay together.

The elephants currently reside at the Houston Zoo, and the move is planned to keep the family group intact at the new facility.
