Residents along the northern Gulf Coast were warned Thursday, Oct. 8, that Hurricane Isaias had strengthened as it approached the shoreline, bringing a risk of storm surge and heavy rain.
The storm is the first hurricane of the Atlantic season and has been moving through the Gulf of Mexico before turning toward the northern Gulf region.
