A large tree in the parking lot of a southwest Houston apartment complex split in two early Thursday morning, toppling onto at least three parked vehicles. The sudden collapse caused damage to the cars and blocked the lot.
The incident was reported shortly after the tree fell, and emergency crews responded to the scene. Firefighters and municipal workers arrived to assess the situation and secure the area while residents gathered nearby.
Crews began the process of cutting away the broken sections of the trunk and removing debris from the parking area. The removal operation was expected to take several hours, during which time the lot remained closed to traffic.
No injuries were reported as the vehicles were stationary at the time of the collapse. Police and fire officials advised owners of the damaged cars to contact their insurance providers for assistance with repairs.
