Burbank police took a 42-year-old male into custody Wednesday afternoon after he was caught stealing a dog from a grocery store on the 3700 block of West Burbank Boulevard. The suspect also attempted to take meat from the same location, prompting store employees to intervene.
Store staff reported that the man tried to conceal packages of meat before exiting the store. Employees were able to retrieve the meat before the suspect left the premises. While reviewing surveillance footage, they also observed the individual handling a dog that was not his own. The dog was later reunited with its owner after the police arrived at the scene.
The Burbank Police Department confirmed the arrest and said the suspect was transported to the department for processing. Investigators noted that the incident occurred in the early afternoon, and the recovered meat was returned to the store’s inventory. The dog, described as a small breed, was taken back to its rightful owner without injury. No additional arrests or charges were mentioned at the time of reporting.
