Effective Oct. 1, 2026, California car dealers must list the total vehicle price in all advertisements and communications, with taxes and fees excluded from that figure.
The requirement comes from the California CARS Act, Senate Bill 766, which the governor signed into law. The measure aims to curb deceptive pricing practices at dealerships.
A state senator noted the change is intended to increase pricing transparency for car buyers.
