Caltrans has announced that a portion of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, also designated as State Route 27, will operate with only a single lane of traffic for a six‑day period. Beginning Monday, August 10, and continuing through Saturday, August 15, flaggers will be stationed on the mountain road to direct traffic in alternating directions.
The lane reduction will affect the stretch of Topanga Canyon Boulevard that lies between Entrada Drive and Pacific Coast Highway in the community of Topanga, Los Angeles County. Each day the restriction will be in place from 10 a.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning, after which normal two‑lane flow is expected to resume until the next day’s restriction period begins.
Caltrans described the measure as a temporary response, employing flaggers to manage the alternating flow of vehicles along the narrowed corridor. The agency’s notice indicates that the single‑lane operation is intended to be a short‑term solution for the specified dates and times, with traffic returning to its usual configuration once the work concludes on Saturday night.
