A California Highway Patrol officer was bitten by a CHP K‑9 while attempting to take a pursuit driver into custody in Burbank on September 26, 2026.
Burbank police had reported a stolen Lexus SUV traveling on the 210 Freeway, leading the CHP to assume control of the chase. The highway patrol used a PIT maneuver to bring the vehicle to a stop before the officer was bitten.
The bite occurred as the officer was trying to apprehend the driver of the stolen Lexus SUV.
