The City of Compton, in partnership with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, has placed rubber median barriers at nearly two dozen intersections. The barriers are intended to discourage illegal street takeovers that have long affected parts of Los Angeles County.
Street takeovers have been a recurring problem in the region, with tire marks left on pavement at hotspots identified by the sheriff's department. The new installations aim to reduce these incidents by physically limiting vehicle movement at key locations.
