Los Angeles County voters will decide in the November 2026 election whether to require binding arbitration for labor disputes involving public safety employees, including sheriff’s deputies, district attorney investigators and medical examiners.
The proposal, identified as Measure A, would change the existing process for handling strikes and other labor actions by shifting resolution authority to an arbitration panel. The measure involves Los Angeles County officials and is linked to the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs and other public safety employee unions.
If approved, the shift would replace current dispute‑resolution methods with binding arbitration for the affected public safety unions.
