A Los Angeles Sheriff's Department deputy and Los Angeles County fire crews rescued a driver from a Tesla that burst into flames after colliding with a tree near the intersection of Sierra Highway and Newhall Avenue in Santa Clarita. The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on September 14, 2026.
The deputy was on routine patrol when he observed the vehicle striking the tree and the subsequent fire. He immediately moved to the scene and began coordinating the response while fire personnel arrived to assist.
Firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department quickly positioned equipment and worked alongside the deputy to extract the driver from the vehicle. The combined effort succeeded in removing the occupant before the fire spread further, preventing additional injury.
Officials confirmed that the Tesla ignited as a result of the impact with the tree. The driver was taken to a nearby medical facility for evaluation, and no additional casualties were reported.
