The Department of Homeland Security bought two immigration detention facilities in California from the GEO Group for $950 million, adding a total of 2,644 beds. The acquisition includes the Adelanto ICE Processing Center.
The GEO Group, a private prison corporation that operates ICE detention sites, announced the sale on Monday.
