Federal agents seized more than 42 kilograms of fentanyl, several firearms and a small alligator from a luxury apartment in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday, September 15, 2026, and arrested two individuals on intent‑to‑distribute charges.

The operation took place in the Olympic + Hill building, a high‑rise residence in the city's central business district. Agents from multiple federal drug enforcement agencies entered the unit after obtaining a search warrant linked to a fentanyl trafficking investigation.

Investigators recovered the narcotic in bulk form, enough to supply a large distribution network, along with a collection of handguns and rifles that were stored in the apartment. The unexpected presence of a live alligator, described in the warrant as a “pet reptile,” was also documented by the agents.

Both men taken into custody were charged with intent to distribute fentanyl, a federal offense that carries severe penalties. They remain detained pending a federal court appearance, and a detailed inventory of the seized weapons and narcotics has been forwarded to the appropriate authorities.

The seizure comes as federal drug enforcement agencies have stepped up operations targeting fentanyl trafficking across Los Angeles. Officials have indicated that the synthetic opioid continues to fuel a surge in overdose deaths, prompting a series of coordinated raids in recent months.

Law enforcement officials said the discovery of the alligator underscores the variety of items found during drug raids, but emphasized that the primary focus remains dismantling the supply chain for fentanyl. The investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests may follow as authorities pursue related leads.
