A half‑cent sales‑tax increase took effect today in Los Angeles County, lifting the baseline rate from 9.75% to 10.25%. The change adds roughly $0.50 in tax for every $100 spent.
The additional revenue is earmarked for health care and other essential services. Voters approved the increase in June 2026 as part of the Essential Services Restoration Act.
