LADWP Customers Face Higher Bills as State Rates Near Double National Average

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power reports that its residential customers are experiencing higher electricity bills because California’s residential rates are almost twice the national average.

Even though LADWP’s rates are lower than those of other Southern California utilities, the state’s overall electricity costs remain among the highest in the country, according to the California Legislative Analyst’s Office.

The Legislative Analyst’s Office notes that Californians already pay significantly more for electricity than the rest of the United States, which contributes to the increased charges faced by LADWP households.
