Legionella bacteria were found in the cooling system of the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner complex near downtown, and a county employee has tested positive for Legionnaire's disease.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed the contamination and the diagnosis. Legionella can cause Legionnaire's disease when aerosolized water from building cooling systems is inhaled.
