Southern California Edison turned off electricity for more than 70,000 customers across the region, including over 34,000 residents of Moorpark, on October 14 and 15. The shutdown was intended to lessen the likelihood that utility equipment would spark wildfires during strong Santa Ana winds.
The utility carried out public‑safety power shutoffs as the area faced dangerous high winds, affecting communities such as Moorpark and Malibu.
