Southern California Edison and the National Weather Service said tens of thousands of residents in Southern California could face a public safety power shutoff after a red‑flag warning was issued for high heat and strong Santa Ana winds.

The warning applies to coastal communities, the Los Angeles County basin and the valleys of San Bernardino and Riverside counties, where the combination of rising temperatures and wind heightens fire risk.

The utility and the weather service issue power‑shutoff warnings and heat‑wind advisories whenever fire‑danger conditions increase in the region.
