A brush fire designated Alpha Sierra is burning in the Everglades of western Broward County. The blaze has scorched roughly 190 acres and officials report it is about 10% contained.
The fire started as a grass fire along the median of Interstate 75 and was first reported on Sunday. The Florida Forest Service and the Florida Highway Patrol have been monitoring the situation since then, and the flames remain visible from the highway.
Fire crews continue to work on containment while keeping the public informed of the ongoing conditions.
