South Florida authorities arrested Tremayne Bates and Garrett Andre Smith on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, charging them with multiple counts of grand theft, burglary and criminal mischief. The two are alleged to have been part of a burglary ring that targeted construction sites and other locations across the region.

Investigators say the operation resulted in approximately $200,000 in losses, affecting about 50 sites and linked to 58 related offenses. Bates, a resident of Plantation, was taken into custody in the South Florida area along with the second suspect.

The arrests are part of a broader multi‑county investigation into the burglary network that has been responsible for property loss at construction sites and other venues.
