Ariane Lalancette captured the women's title while Kiyan Sunderji took the men's crown at the Ottawa Ironman Triathlon on August 2, 2026.
The race, held each year in Ottawa, Ontario, tests athletes over a long‑distance course that includes a 3.8‑kilometre swim, a 180‑kilometre bike ride and a 42.2‑kilometre marathon run.
Both winners are members of the University of Calgary’s competitive triathlon program, which has produced a number of athletes who compete at national and international levels.
Lalancette’s performance placed her ahead of the field in the women's division, while Sunderji finished first among the men, each completing the three‑discipline course within the event’s qualifying time limits.
The Ottawa Ironman draws participants from across Canada and abroad, and the 2026 edition continued the tradition of bringing together elite competitors and amateur racers alike.
Organisers recorded a full roster of competitors and confirmed that safety protocols, including water rescue teams and medical stations, were in place throughout the swim, bike and run segments.
Competitors moved through two transition zones in the downtown area, where they switched from swim gear to bicycles and later from bicycles to running shoes, adhering to the standard Ironman format.
The results add to the athletes’ season records and will be reflected in the upcoming national rankings for triathlon, where points from Ironman events contribute to overall standings.
