Canada's real gross domestic product did not change in August, according to Statistics Canada. The flat reading follows a similar lack of growth in July, marking two consecutive months of stagnation and opening the possibility of a decline in September.
Economists had projected a modest increase of 0.2% for the month, but the agency reported zero percent change. Earlier in the year the economy had been expanding before the slowdown began in July.
