On Monday, a food bank in Lévis, Quebec, experienced vandalism when copper wiring was cut and taken from its refrigeration system, disabling the unit.
The theft forced Comptoir Le Grenier to discard approximately $10,000 worth of perishable food and to spend about $20,000 on repairs, resulting in a total loss of $30,000.
Without functioning refrigeration, the organization could not keep perishable items cold, leading to the spoilage.
