The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission announced on 2 October that it will introduce a new reporting standard for mobile network coverage. The standard will allow consumers to view the quality of cellphone service and identify potential coverage gaps.

The initiative adds a transparency tool aimed at improving public awareness of mobile network performance across Canada, with the rollout beginning in Gatineau, Quebec.
