On Monday, October 12, a driver travelling on Highway 10 near Bromont discovered that four of the five lug nuts securing a wheel were missing. The driver, Léonie Pelletier of the Bromont police, reported the condition to authorities and warned that a social‑media challenge might be encouraging such tampering.
Pelletier was accompanied by three children at the time of the discovery. The incident has prompted Quebec motorists to alert police to similar safety concerns, citing fears that an online challenge could be motivating drivers to remove lug nuts deliberately.
