The revised policy applies to all attendees of ÎleSoniq, a summer music festival held on the island, as well as to patrons of any other concerts, shows or gatherings taking place at Parc Jean‑Drapeau. Organisers said the adjustment expands the range of acceptable bags while maintaining the size restrictions that have been in place for security screening.
Under the earlier transparent‑bag requirement, festival goers were required to bring only clear, see‑through bags in order to expedite security checks and reduce the risk of prohibited items being concealed. The new rule now permits bags that are not see‑through, as long as they meet the same dimensional criteria used for the transparent‑bag policy.
Evenko, the company that produces ÎleSoniq and manages a number of other events at the park, issued the update without providing additional detail on why the policy was altered. The announcement was made the day before the festival’s opening weekend, giving attendees a short window to adjust their bag choices.
The change comes as the festival prepares for a weekend that is expected to draw large crowds to the island. Security personnel at Parc Jean‑Drapeau will continue to enforce the size limits and conduct standard checks, regardless of whether a bag is transparent or opaque.
