The City of Montreal announced that fines collected in 2026 generated about $185 million in revenue, a rise of over 20% compared with the same period in 2025.

The increase is attributed to a larger number of residents being fined, making penalties a major source of municipal income according to the Martinez Ferrada administration’s financial results.
