On September 28, housing advocates moved into a vacant building in Montreal’s Sud‑Ouest borough, using it as a temporary residence to demand action on the province’s housing crisis.

The occupation highlights that almost 100,000 buildings remain empty across Quebec and is intended to urge political parties to go beyond promises before the upcoming election.

Quebec is currently confronting a severe shortage of housing while many properties sit unused, adding pressure on politicians as the election approaches.
