Hydro-Québec announced on November 6, 2026 that it will purchase the former Northvolt industrial site on the South Shore of Montreal. The utility plans to construct an electrical substation and a logistics centre on the property.
The land, previously owned by Swedish battery maker Northvolt, is being repurposed for energy and logistics infrastructure by the provincial utility.
