On November 17, 2026, a group of lawyers will ask a court to require members of Quebec's National Assembly to swear an oath to the King and to temporarily suspend the provincial law that eliminated that oath.

The request follows Quebec's recent change to its legislation that dropped the traditional oath, and the legal challenge is being launched ahead of the start of the 44th legislature.
