The provincial government’s latest electoral map revision, announced on September 25, 2026, expands the Mille-Îles riding to encompass roughly one‑third of Île Jésus, the island that forms the city of Laval. The new boundaries bring the district’s coverage to about 33 percent of the island’s area.
Mille-Îles is situated in the eastern part of Laval, Quebec’s third‑largest municipality. Prior to the revision, the riding covered a smaller portion of the island, but the updated delineation now includes a substantially larger geographic segment.
The adjustment was made to improve the balance of electoral representation within Laval. By increasing the size of the Mille-Îles district, authorities aim to align the number of voters in the riding more closely with those in other Laval constituencies.
The change is part of Quebec’s most recent provincial electoral boundary review, which has been revisiting the limits of many districts across the province to reflect population changes and ensure equitable representation.
With the new map, additional neighbourhoods in eastern Laval fall under the Mille-Îles banner, altering the composition of the electorate that will vote in the next provincial election. The shift will affect the distribution of voters among the city’s ridings but does not alter the total number of seats allocated to Laval in the National Assembly.
The revised boundaries will be used for all future provincial contests unless further adjustments are ordered by the electoral commission. Residents of the affected areas are expected to receive updated voting information from Elections Quebec ahead of the next election cycle.
