The City of Montreal will open nine warming centres in November 2026 to shelter unhoused residents before winter arrives. The new facilities add 500 seasonal spaces and bring the total number of emergency and transitional housing places in the city to 3,000.
These centres expand Montreal’s existing emergency housing network, increasing overall capacity to the 3,000‑space level as the colder months approach.
