The École polytechnique campus in Montreal is home to Quebec’s only operational nuclear reactor, and the engineering firm AtkinsRéalis has committed a $1 million donation spread over five years to back the facility’s research activities.
The reactor, which began operating in 1976, is dedicated solely to research purposes. The pledged funding is intended to support ongoing nuclear research at the university, which remains the province’s single active reactor site.
