The City of Montreal reported that fines issued to residents generated roughly $185 million in revenue for 2026, marking an increase of more than 20% over the same period in 2025.

The rise is linked to a higher issuance of municipal fines, which remain a major source of funding for the city’s budget under the Martinez Ferrada administration.
