City of Montreal reported that fines collected in 2026 totalled roughly $185 million, marking an increase of more than 20 percent compared with the same period last year.

The rise follows a policy by the administration led by Martinez Ferrada to issue more penalties, resulting in a higher number of residents being fined and a notable boost to municipal revenue.
