Starting the week of October 12, 2026, the Montreal police service will increase its sexual exploitation investigation unit by fifteen officers, bringing the total number of investigators to nearly fifty.

The expansion, funded by the Quebec Ministry of Public Security, follows a budget approval in the spring of 2026 intended to broaden police efforts against sexual exploitation.
