The City of Montreal announced a plan to cull more than 100 Virginia deer in the eastern part of the island. Officials said the growing deer population threatens local biodiversity and is linked to a high number of road accidents. A cull carried out three years ago did not resolve the overpopulation problem, leading to the current initiative.
