A gathering in Montreal this October commemorated two women who were killed in the city and in nearby Laval, and urged stronger measures to prevent domestic violence. Local shelters, helplines and other community groups organized the event to highlight the need for action against conjugal violence.

The same organizations announced a series of events scheduled throughout October in recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. These activities aim to keep the memory of the victims alive while providing resources and support for those affected by domestic abuse.
