The illuminated cross on Mount Royal will be removed for about a year while a renovation replaces roughly a quarter of its 1,800 steel components and its lighting system.
The project will swap out approximately 450 deteriorating steel parts and upgrade the outdated lighting, causing the landmark to disappear from the skyline during the work.
The cross, a well‑known symbol that lights Montreal’s skyline, is being refurbished to address aging parts and improve its illumination.
