A study released on October 15, 2026 indicates that a quarter of Montreal residents have experienced poverty in recent years. The research was conducted by the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) at the request of Centraide du Grand Montréal.
The findings show that 25% of the city’s population faced economic hardship during the period examined, highlighting the extent of poverty within the Montreal region.
