The Réseau express métropolitain (REM) has filed a lawsuit in 2026 seeking $156 million in compensation from roughly ten insurance companies for losses tied to the discovery of century‑old explosives in Montreal’s Mount Royal tunnel in 2020.
The claim, which exceeds the amount previously pursued for the same incident, seeks more than double the earlier sum.
