On October 18, 2026, the borough of Saint‑Laurent in Montreal adopted a bylaw that bars electric scooters and other motorized personal mobility devices from public areas under its control.
The new rule still permits these devices on designated low‑speed bicycle routes where the speed limit is set below 50 km/h.
The bylaw was introduced in response to a sharp rise in injuries among young people involving e‑scooters across Montreal.
