A study released by the Institut national de la recherche scientifique, commissioned by Centraide of Greater Montreal, found that 26% of adults in Montreal lived below the poverty line for at least one year between 2016 and recent years.

The research, which examined poverty trends across the metropolitan area, indicates that more than one-quarter of the city’s adult population experienced poverty during that period.
