Twelve dogs rescued from South Korea's dog‑meat industry have been transferred to an animal shelter in Vaudreuil, west of Montreal, to begin recovery and eventual adoption.
The arrival took place in October 2026, and the dogs will be cared for at the shelter while they heal.
The rescue follows South Korea's plan to fully prohibit the dog‑meat trade nationwide in February 2027, prompting international efforts to save animals previously used in the industry.
