On Friday, October 16, 2026, the ashes of journalist Lisle Lester were transferred from Queens Crematorium to her family’s residence in Wisconsin.
Lester, a 19th‑century journalist who founded Wisconsin’s first magazine, The Badger State Monthly, had died and been cremated in Queens. The move brings her remains back to the state where she spent her childhood.
